VARIOUS NEWS ITEMS FROM FRANCIS MBUVI 1 Feb 2008
***We had a meeting Friday morning, and Ann reported on Catherine Ndunge
and Elizabeth Wanjiku, the

two girls with babies whom we are inviting
to live at the Eastleigh Center. I asked her to go ahead and take
in
Wanjiku as well as do an age assessment on Catherine. I have
called her
and she tells me Wanjiku will start her time with us today. This
is good news even though on the medicals she turned out to be one month
pregnant. Catherine has turned out to be below 17 and she will
be coming to the center tommorrow.
Next week Joel and I will be in Eastleigh to help Ann and them set up
and at the same time look for more girls. We appreciate your prayers so
much. Ann has not yet brought the pictures--as soon as I get them I
will send to you.

***I have Caro's passport and will book an appointment on Monday at the American Embassy for her visa. Anthony
has not yet got his birth certificate.
***
Thanks for the 1st Peter material.

Joel, Mbithe and I interviewed a lady last week for the salon work and
decided to try her out for a month. She came in today and she does good
braiding. She is 22 years old and the first born of 8 kids. Her name is
Margaret Njeri. We will let her spend some nights at the girls' place
just to see how compatible she will be even though that is not enough
time to know for certain how she would handle the girls. I will let you know how she does.

***I have also got a young man from Limuru to help
Edward at the twenty
acres at night and also work with Ben in the farm. I asked Ann to wait
before getting a new team until we had some young mothers living there.
All the other supplies like bed and mosquito nets are ready.
***Yesterday we went to the farm to harvest beans. This time the rains
were not enough to make the beans

do well even though we may get at least
one bag. The students as always worked hard in picking the beans and we
finished one acre from 3:20 to 5 pm. This is good for them
especially to continue learning how to produce food for themselves and
others in the future. In the picture are Brenda, Elizabeth, Alex and others.

***Sunday
class as usual has continued to be a blessing to me and the kids. It's
always encouraging to hear of their stories concerning the practice for
the week. During the "suffer for doing good" week, many got to tell the
truth even though they knew it would land them in trouble with the team
especially. Sarah shared of how she told the truth and that she was not
punished and how relieved she felt. Lucy Muthoni, the slimmer one, had
the best deed that week where she asked if she could clean Victor's
class and the cafe. She said she felt good to be thanked after the
deed. We also had the debate about good qualities of a leader and
follower where Ken Wabungu and Tabitha Akinyi had good sharing both
positive and negative of each. We later wrote some of the best
qualities of each and they wrote on paper for reminder during the rest
of the week. God
students share in the LifExciting class
has blessed us and continues to do amazing things.
***Wambu has already planted the trees at Acre 287, and they will be
growing by the time you get here. Fencing of Mountain View and
registration will be done soon.
***Valerie Awuor left on Monday this week and I am working on seeing
that we get a good worker soon. I have left the door open for her
to reapply if she decides MITS is in her future. Katera can help
some when she comes.
***Food prices are still going up here but we are managing.
***I have not yet found a buyer for the Isuzu but wambu is helping me.
***All the team members and I sincerely thank you for the pay rise this year. It goes a long way in boosting our morale.
***We have worked on 2008 goals and I will send them soon.
