From Larry Conway, 3 March 2008
Today Kennedy, Jackton and I visited Lilliput and Mlango Kubwa bases
(n.b., a "base" is a location where street children and
youth gather in
the evening to eat what they have gotten that day and to sleep.
Real men have "bases", something they learned from movies like Commando).
At one point I saw 25 people at MKubwa listening to Jackton. At
Lilliput we prayed, encouraged and counseled them. Elijah's
mother still has not been buried; her body is at the morgue waiting for
some kind of bill payment. We spent a long time there counseling
them about this. At Mkubwa we counseled them about life and other
topics. Jackton was the most welcome guest there. They all
liked seeing him there today.
Jackton is in the middle of the youth toward the right side with his
arm extended to the left, and he is wearing a wristwatch (something
most of us don't do when we go to the streets!!)
(note: MITS has no budget for such things as a burial. If you want to
help the street youth Elijah to bury his mother, the bill at the morgue
is usually somewhere around $500. They will also need up to $300
for a burial. Please send to Made in the Streets. 409 Franklin Road, Brentwood, TN 37027,
note the purpose of the gift, and send Dr. Coulston an email noting how
much you have given toward the need. Email at
charles.coulston@made-in-the-streets.org Thank you for
your kindness.)
