most
days of the week we have street people who come to the made in the streets
center in Eastleigh…Mondays young mothers with children and babies come for a program… simultaneously teen age
boys come for a program…Tuesday the teen boys return for a continued program…
Wednesday we have a session with the teen girls… Thursday teen and older boys
play soccer and then come to the mits center for a devotional and
meal…and at all times there are drop-ins with medical, financial, emotional and
spiritual challenges whom we try to serve…
I
have been teaching the teen girls the past several weeks. My objective is for
them to fall in love with Jesus!!! … We begin with games and laughter, then
sing and pray and share memory verses… I then teach my lesson with a lot of
dramas and props … we conclude with prayer and then they are given a hot,
healthy meal.
The
girls have taught me so much thru their prayer lives.
I
don’t know that I have ever heard a street person pray without either thanking
God that they could live another day or that God allowed them to awake once
again in the morning….
The
girl’s prayers include:
~
praying for their enemies (we have two groups of girls whose “bases” or trash
heaps are fighting one another and we have girls from both places who come)
~
Praying for their country
~
praying for themselves to obey God
~
asking God to help them stop fighting with others
~
praying for their leaders
~
asking God to help them leave prostitution (where they get up to a dollar to
buy food)
~
praying for their teachers (us ;-)
~
praying that they understand God’s word
~
Praying that they might stop lying
~
praying that they might stop gossiping
~
praying that they might stop hating
~
asking God to do them a “favor” of helping them stop sniffing glue
~
praying that they can forgive those who have hurt them
~
asking God to provide food for the day / keep them from being hungry
~
help them not live so selfishly
They

the mental hospital
